About Camp Attaway

Camp Attaway’s mission is to provide a safe, supportive, and fun environment for children who struggle with managing their emotions and behaviors. Our campers enjoy a variety of activities, such as swimming, sports, learning games, rock climbing, arts & crafts, nature and drama, while learning social skills, coping strategies, and self-regulation techniques. We maintain a 2:1 ratio of campers to staff at all times, ensuring individualized attention and care.

What you’ll do as a Camp Counselor

As a Camp Counselor, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the safety, fun, and well-being of campers
  • Implementing daily camp programming and behavioral interventions
  • Collecting and recording behavioral data
  • Meeting daily with the Program Director and Clinical Director for planning and feedback
  • Communicating with parents of campers as needed before, during, and after camp session
  • Providing input to written summaries of children’s progress reports
  • Completing program evaluations

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for candidates who have:

  • Experience in the management of behavior for children, especially those with serious emotional or behavioral disorders
  • Experience in a special education or therapeutic setting
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience in programming daily activities for children’s groups
  • A bachelor’s degree or advanced courses in special education, child psychology, therapeutic recreation, or equivalent (preferred)
  • Camp experience (preferred)

Dates of employment:
Staff Training: June 20th-June 26th

Children’s Camp Program: June 27th – July 18th (no camp on July 4th), (all training and camp days Monday through Friday)

Staff Wrap-up Day: July 21st

Times: Staff hours 8am-4pm; Children’s hours 9am-3pm

Salary: $15-$25 per hour. Commensurate with training and experience.

Office Manager

The Office Manager skills and expectations:

● Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and ability to multi-task.

● Flexible daytime work hours. Position starts at 20-25 hours weekly, with more hours required from time to time for a special event or mailing. Position is primarily in office in Columbia, MD, with occasional remote work opportunities available.

● Experience with a variety of office software (email tools, spreadsheets and databases) and administrative duties, including scheduling meetings. Familiarity with cloud-based tools, like GSuite, Gmail, GDrive, GDocs, and OneDrive preferred.

● Familiarity with donor management systems to track donations, create reports, and acknowledgement letters.

● Assist the Executive Director in tasks such as event planning, presentations, and fundraisers, programming, etc.

● Prepare written documents, including acknowledgment letters, memos, forms, reports, grant updates, and newsletters.

● Proficiency in MS Office including (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.)

● Manage/schedule social media posting and content.

● Experience with Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.

● Website updating and management.

● Strong written and verbal communication skills.

● Willingness to learn new computer programs and take on tasks as needed.

● Manage correspondence with donors, grantors and families we serve.

● Ability to collect and track multiple forms for financial aid and new employee paperwork.

● Familiarity with graphic design programs, such as Canva or photoshop is ideal.

● Familiarity with Chat GPT, and writing prompts ideal.

● Experience as an Office Manager or an Administrative Assistant preferred.

● Ability to adapt to change and manage multiple tasks with changing priorities.

● Team player with a positive attitude and a sense of humor.
