The gala will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 6:00 pm. We’ll be entertained and educated by Derek Brown, a leading spirits and cocktail expert as well as author. Derek owns the renowned Columbia Room and won the 2017 Spirited Award for “Best American Cocktail Bar” in the USA. He has concocted cocktails at The White House, clinked glasses with Martha Stewart, and was even appointed Chief Spirits Advisor at the National Archives Foundation.
For our gala, Derek will feature a historical mixology lesson and will enthusiastically engage in Q&A with attendees. Derek’s philosophy for crafting memorable drinks includes “thinking about how the cocktails connect to history” and “to the people who made them and the time they were living in.” Derek is also an advocate of non-alcoholic cocktails and is passionate about helping people understand spiritless products and, more importantly, how to use them.
Party kits will be available for pick-up in Columbia, MD (details re: pick-up are below). Mailing of kits is not possible. Tickets purchased that include party kits will contain all the ingredients needed to make two historic artisan cocktails OR non-alcoholic cocktails that Derek will be demonstrating. **Party kits will also include tasty crudité from Cured/18th & 21st.
**This celebration will include a special appearance by Jazz Great Kenny G!
